Accomplices took place this year on an old estate in the mountains on a Greek island, a two-hour drive outside Athens, and was an extended experiment in collective cohabitation and sharing. The gathering’s theme was “Making Time,” and it lasted three weeks in July and involved 22 participants and four guests leading workshops, and was thought up in collaboration with Adam HajYahia. The program was designed to ensure the participants had focused time together, sharing ideas, interests, and tools, while participating in relevant pre-planned seminars, physical activities, cooking classes, and more.
The participants were Adam HajYahia (Palestine), Aziz Aissaoui (Tunisia), Benjamin Seror (France), Felipe Steinberg (Brazil), Ghassan Halwani (Lebanon), Haifa Saleh (Palestine), Haig Aivazian (Lebanon), Haitham Haddad (Palestine), Hajer Ben Boubaker (Tunisia/France), Jehan Yazami (Morocco/France), Joane Chaker (Lebanon), Krystel Khoury (Lebanon), Laila Hida (Morocco), Leena Habiballa (Sudan/UK), Mai Abu ElDahab (Egypt/Belgium), Maisan Hamdan (Palestine), Marwa Benhalim (Libya/Egypt), Noor Abed (Palestine), Noura Seif (Egypt), and Salma Abdel Salam (Egypt).
Along with the different activities each of the participants organized, workshops were also led by Tunisian producer and DJ Deena Abdelwahed, Palestinian queer activist and Pilates instructor Haneen Maikey, Lebanese transfeminist queer organiser, university lecturer, researcher, and artist/filmmaker Leil Zahra, and Indian Marseille-based chef Zuri Camille de Souza.
