We No Longer Prefer Mountains is a single-screen film installation in which Inas reflects upon the particular political and social condition of the Druze community living in occupied Palestine, taking individual and personal stories as a point of departure. Weaving together intimate engagements with members of the community in shared domestic spaces and outdoor environments, the film explores how the inner politics of the Druze have been reconfigured and reshaped as a result of the establishment of Israel in 1948. The installation will evoke the mountain as a main protagonist of the film, with visitors ascending and descending a tiered structure, mirroring the ascent and descent of Mount Carmel. A second iteration of this exhibition will be held at De Appel in Amsterdam in Spring 2023. You can read more about Inas’ work and exhibition at The Showroom here.
