Galactic Crush, a performance by Lebanese artist Stephanie Kayal and musician Abed Kobeissy, took place at Kunstencentrum BUDA as part of NEXT Festival in Kortrijk. Stephanie was invited to develop and present this project as part of Mophradat’s Art Time Residencies, following the open call for performing artists launched in 2021.

Galactic Crush is a performance that re-examines the notion of fiction in a place where an absurd reality has deprived it of its capacity to exaggerate. The events take place in a parallel universe, where in retaliation to decades of evil and corruption, a dancer anti-hero and her tactical support side-kick musician will form a cheaply equipped and loosely organized crime-fighting power couple to exact justice. Stephanie Kayal is a performance artist, choreographer, and dancer. She lives and works in Beirut. In recent years, she has been seen as a performer in shows by different artists and companies. She has performed in Beirut, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Chile, Tunisia, Egypt, and Jordan.
