Mophradat provided travel grants that covered travel costs to participate in international cultural and artistic events (a conference, exhibition, symposium, biennial, festival, or any other non-commercial artistic activity).

2018

City University of Hong Kong invited graphic designer Haytham Nawwar to present his paper Generation of a Multi-Pictorial Script at the International Symposium on Computational Media Art.

Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin, invited researcher Karim-Yassin Goessinger to attend (Un)learning Place, a program that is part of HKW’s long-term project The New Alphabet.

Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm will be hosting musician Yasmine ElBaramawy for a residency to develop her next album.

TicTac Art Center in Brussels will be hosting dancer Islam Elnebishy as part of their dance workshop “Flying Low and Passing Through” with David Zambrano. This residency is also made possible with the support of Fondation Boghossian that will be hosting Elnebishy at the Villa Empain during his stay.

New Mexico State University in Las Cruces will be hosting filmmaker Salma El Tarzi to present her co-authored book Three Women: Stories From the Egyptian Revolution (2019), and give a series of workshops at their Interdisciplinary Studies Department.

The feminist literary organization Belladonna in New York will host a public reading and publish a chapbook by writer Iman Mersal.

Mansion in Beirut invited artist Mena El Shazly for a residency.

Spring Sessions in Amman covered the participation of artists Sara Farag ElKamel, Habiba Effat, Ahmed Mongey, Reeham Mourad, and Hanaa Safwat, in its fifth edition.

Choreographer Adham Hafez took part in a residency at Altofest in Naples.

The film festival An Ordinary Day in Stockholm invited artist Nada Hasan for a presentation of her work.

The arts laboratory PALA LAB in Berlin hosted the artist Omnia Naguib to take part in a meeting on working collaboratively.

Chouftouhouna, Tunis international feminist art festival, invited artist Shayma Aziz to present her work and participate in a panel discussion.

The Mediterranean Film Institute hosted Mayye Zayed to take part in a scriptwriting workshop in Rhodes.

The Comics International Festival in Angoulême invited illustrator Farid Nagy to participate in and attend the exhibition Nouvelle Génération — la bande dessinée arabe at la Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image.

2017

Ashkal Alwan in Beirut received support for artist Omar Adel to travel to its annual Home Works program.

The program “Social Choreographies — Personal and Social Relational Connectivity through African Dances” in Suceava and Bucharest received support for dancer Hend ElBalouty to perform.

Beirut’s Metropolis Art Cinema received support to bring over young filmmakers Aya El Lyboudy, Noha Elostaz, and Nada Moharam for the fourth edition of Talents Beirut.

Weltformat 17 — Poster Festival Lucerne received support for graphic designer Engy Aly’s participation in their event.

Madrassa hosted arts manager Dina El Deeb at its program of curatorial research and practice in contemporary art, organized by Atelier de l’Observatoire in Casablanca.

The Harun Farocki Institute was able to bring over visual artists Assem Hendawi, Marianne Fahmy, and Nardeen Nabil for the workshop “Farocki Now: A Temporary Academy in Berlin.”

The Alexandria Library in Manchester received support for visual artist Mai Al Shazly to do the opening of her solo show there.

Toronto’s Centre for Creative Music received support for musician Maurice Louca’s participation in the world premiere of the Egyptian-Canadian contemporary orchestra Land of Kush.

Triangle France at La Friche Belle de Mai in Marseille received support for visual artist Fahmy Shahin’s completion of a three-month residency there.

The Angoulême International Comics Festival received support for comics artists Farid Nagi and Karim Nawar’s participation.

Dak’Art 2018 in Dakar received support for the participation of sound artist Yara Mekawei.
